”Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1316
Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the candidate receives the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation brings about a deepening of baptismal grace and unites the candidate more firmly to Jesus. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are increased within the person and a special strength is given to them to spread the faith. Candidates choose the name of a Confirmation Saint, which will not only show one’s commitment to the Christian life, but will also serve as witness of being an example in the Church.
